Known Issue: Stock weather widget will not update location [Fresh 1.1]
Issue: If you came from a clean install rather than an update, the standard clock&weather widget that is on the home page will not pull your location automatically.
Cause: This is caused by me having removed the HTC Location Service from Fresh 1.1. Before you apply the patch to put it back… make sure you know why I took it out. There is a major bug that we didn’t discover in our phones at first as mentioned here, here, here, and here. This was an apparent bug from Android 1.5 that causes the location service to keep building up more and more location requests on top of each other, instead of sticking to only one. To the point where it was checking the location 5 times in 1 second. This causes major lag and a huge battery drain. Because the source of our phone isn’t available to use, they patch that some guys created to fix the issue can’t be applied on our phones. However in my testing I found that when I removed HTC Location Service, this problem was completely resolved. The phone fail-safes back to Android’s location service. This means that maps and everything still work, and even the weather widget still works. But it seems to have only broken this one widget:

Resolution: There are a couple of work-arounds for this. The easiest one is to just set your location instead of letting it use the location service. All you need to do is delete the widget and then add it back. When it asks what location you want to use, pick an actual location instead of just “current location.”
The second fix would be to put the location service back on the phone if that widget is that important to you.
Just know that it will bring the other Android (not fresh rom!) bug back.

You can apply that is a normal update.zip, or you could even apply it by choosing the theme installer in the pre-kitchen.

So if we just flashed it over 1.0, did it still remove the service?
