Download: Radio Baseband 2.42.01.04.27 for Sprint CDMA Hero
Geek for Me is proud to release:
Updated Radio.img for Android 2.1 (radio version 2.42.01.04.27) for Sprint
- This has only been tested and confirmed as working on Fresh 2.1 but will work on every Sprint 2.1 Rom
- Flashing an updated radio will typically give you better battery life and better signal
- Different radios work differently depending on where you are in the country. You may actually get better performance out of another radio. Test them out.
- This won’t fix any current problems with the 2.x roms, but it will make your phone more efficient
- Don’t hold me responsible if you brick your phone
- Don’t flash this unless you have a CDMA Hero
- This is the new stock one from the 2.27.651.5 RUU
Check this post for how to flash it: How To: Flash a Radio Update Sprint HTC Hero

Hi,
I have a noob question… =\
If I used flashed Fresh Rom 1.1 and my baseband version is 1.04.01.09.21 and i flash the new fresh rom 2.1.1 do i still keep the same baseband radio or do i need to manually flash it to this one? and if i do keep the same one… can i use that one instead of the new one?Like or Dislike:

flashing roms does not change the radio, it is something you must change seperatly if you want to. you dont have to change it but understand that these 2.1 roms that come from the RUU’s are tested with this radio so it should be optimized for max efficency (should being the keyword)

Sorry, Steve…. Once bricked, always bricked. I flashed a wrong radio and bricked one 6 months ago and there was no bringing it back to life. So I told the rep at the Sprint store that it turned off in the middle of a phone call and nothing I tried would turn it back on. After 10 minutes, the Tech came up to me and said he’d have to order a replacement phone (didn’t charge me a cent) Can’t guarantee you’ll have the same results, but worth a shot.

well if that’s true I wasn’t bricked! I had also recently partioned by sd to ext4 and then in FreshToast tried to push a change from the kitchen and at that point my phone never came back up. I had only assumed it was because of the radio, but in fact it was the ext4 doing something screwy. I repartitioned and converted to ext3 and everything works great.

What’s the longest I should accept my phone sitting at Formatting CACHE:…?
Thus far, it’s been 10 minutes at least.
Also, in the past, I’ve renamed the file from whatever you’ve had it named as when I downloaded it to “radio.zip”. I did not do that this time. Would that cause any problems?
