How to: Use Fresh Updater
Fresh Updater is a new application that will be included with my roms (starting with Fresh Evo 0.5). Major thanks to cyanogen and firefart as this is based on CMUpdater.
On all new rom releases you will be able to find Fresh Updater in the app drawer.
You are able to use this to update the rom when new versions come out and also to install patches and themes. I am releasing it with my patch updates online. This tutorial will show you how to add the server and get those patches.
After launching the application you will want to hit “Menu” and go to “Configuration”.
From there hit “theme update settings” and then “manage theme servers”.
This is where you need to add the server. Hit “menu” then “update featured servers” and “yes” to add the servers. At this point you will see the Fresh Patches server get added.
You should now exit the application to clear any messages and open it again. Go to the themes tab and hit “Check Now”. You can then select a theme/patch in order to view it’s notes, screen shots, or to download and install it.
If when it goes to install an update it reboots your phone to a screen with an exclamation point then you are using Clockwork Recovery which doesn’t play nicely with the updater. Check the comments below for help, but basically you need to be using Amon’s RA (which can even be installed through Clockwork’s ROM manager).

Anytime I try to apply a theme (vanilla lock plus apps and clock) it reboots, and i just get the little android guy with a triangle with an exclamation mark… sits there forever.Same here.

^^^ This exactly. I don’t have any of the themes on my list except for the ones having to do with lock screen. I don’t have any of the Rosie Rotate things or the option to go back to HTC lock screen. Also, is there a way to put a picture behind the vanilla lock screen or is it always going to be a darkened version of whatever screen I was on before?

Had been using clockwork and got yellow exclamation. Flashed RA Recovery and tried to apply the v2FPS fix. It reboots into recovery, gets as far as ‘formatting cache’ and then the options to reboot/nandroid/wipe/etc appear and nothing else happens. That doesn’t leave me confident that it was completed. How can I tell it was applied? Software version says ‘Fresh Evo 1.0 Beta 1′. Is Amons RA a requirement, I guess?

Ok, here’s what worked for me…. I downloaded the Lock screen + Vanilla apps + World Clock theme. rebooted, choose select zip, went to /download, chose *remove-htc-lock-clock-full.zip*, got a verification error, so I set it to not check verification and poof…. it installed no problems. (it did take several minutes to fully boot, just wait for it)
Hope this helps

hey aaron (#26)
i have noticed that too, my precent is at the bottom of the icon and the image itself is taller then the other widgets. maybe if it statred where the name of apps do it might look more inline with other apps on the screen
sidenote batterytimer lite is a really cool battery widget with diff skins and gives estimated times remaining for various activities

Followed the directions for setting the themes/patches update server, but it still finds no updates. Current ROM is 3.0.0.4. Anything else I should be checking or doing?
I did, at first, try flashing the latest using ROM Manager, but it would still only show 3.0.0.4 after supposedly flashing the newer version.

Hi, tried to find a solution in the Forum but to no avail…
After flashing the latest Fresh EVO ROM, my PC (WIN7) does not recognize the phone anymore, and the EVO does not charge either.
I tried re-installing HTC Sync, checking/unchecking debugging, rebooting…. nothing.
Love the ROM, but don’t know what to do now. – Please help!P.S.: First (Fresh) ROM I fleshed. Did the Delvik-cache and data wipe before flashing, as per instructions…

I had this problem too.
I found that moving where I was plugging the phone in from a front panel USB port to one coming off the back panel (and thereby, theoretically, more power on the line) fixed the issue for me. It appears to me that the Fresh ROM is way more picky about how much juice it’s getting than the stock install.

Menu unlocking vanilla lock is not a bug, it’s a feature. That’s how it is stock out of the box. And if pattern unlock isn’t working then I’ll have to look in to that. All previous roms of mine required me to fix what HTC had broken on the vanilla lock, with FroYo the vanilla lock was never broken in the first place so it’s not modified.

I’m running Fresh Rom 2.3.3 and really loving it. But I am running into issues with the clock on the vanilla lock screen. I applied the Vanilla Lock Screen via the Fresh Updater. The phone reset, installed the update and the last message it gave was ‘Flashing cache’ and then it provided me the recovery menu so I could reboot. It booted fine, with the normal delay after an update and I noticed it didn’t have a clock on the lockscreen. So I decided to choose another Vanilla theme that says it adds the clock. I think it was the fourth one because it also said it would add Vanilla apps which I figured would be good to have. Anyway, I applied the update from the Fresh Updater and it went through the same installation and reboot process but when it got back to the lockscreen there was still no clock. I tried applying all of the updates to no avail. Can someone explain exactly the steps I would need to take to get the Vanilla lockscreen with the clock? Currently it only shows the slider with the lock and sound icons and the alarm if on is set and charging status if its charging. Any help would be much appreciated.

I am using Fresh 3.2.0.0 and RA 1.8.0. When I try to use Fresh Updater, it downloads the file and boots into RA ok but I get an error:
Unable to mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 or /dev/block/mmcblk0Unable to mount /sdcard/download/fresh-updater-reboot.zip
installation failed
All of the files are in the specified paths on my EVO.
Any help would be appreciated.
