Download: Radio Baseband 2.41.04.02.03 for Sprint CDMA Hero
Geek for Me is proud to release:
Updated Radio.img for Android 2.1 (radio version 2.41.04.02.03) for Fresh Rom 2.0b
Thanks to toast for the moral support, and for being the first to test this on his phone. Haha.
- This has only been tested and confirmed as working on Fresh 2.0b
- Flashing an updated radio will typically give you better battery life and better signal
- This won’t fix any current problems with the 2.x roms, but it will make your phone more effecient
- Don’t hold me responsible if you brick your phone
- Don’t flash this unless you have a CDMA Hero
- I wouldn’t flash this unless you are on Fresh 2.0b
- In case you are wondering, our stock one is 1.04.01.09.21
Check this post for how to flash it: How To: Flash a Radio Update Sprint HTC Hero

Hmm.. I have already noticed a significant improvement in my phone’s battery life with the stock Radio.
Am I misunderstanding by thinking this should have been included with the 2.0b ROM?

Hah, nevermind.. I was thinking of the 2.41.04.02.02 version that said something like 2.0b should be a the newer one… which would be this (2.41.04.02.03).

Flipz why would not you flash this to 1.5? or less than 2.1?

If I flash the radio update and do not like it or want to go back to stock will RUU_Hero_C_Sprint_1.56.651.2 signed release.exe still work or is there an easier way?

a better way to word this would be “does that radio update come off with a system wipe?”

That’s not actually a better way to word this. LinkinX is right to reference a RUU instead of a system wipe because the RUU can also update a radio if it contains the proper image file. These are pretty low-level changes, and a system wipe would not remove the radio flash. Heck, a system wipe won’t get rid of your current rom either.
Unfortunately, I don’t believe there is a radio image inside the sprint RUU, but someone should check to be sure.

I don’t think the voicemail app works on this build, he’s working on it though.

Hey, If I do this update and want to do back to 1.5 Fresh 1.1.
I will do a wipe and then just use my back up I made before going to 2.1
(Works great by the way)
Will this update hurt that?

Thanks again Flipz for the great work. I upgraded using the 1.5.2 RA on two different hero’s and it worked perfect. Much appreciated!

Flipz, thanks for all the hard work. I’ve been having problems pairing the bluetooth and general voice quality but not sure if it’s because of the 2.0b rom or the radio upgrade. I want to test to see which is causing the problem, but how can I revert back to the old radio?

It’s the radio update. My bluetooth is trashed. I’ve tried hopping around roms 1.1, 2.01, 2.0b, 2.0b2. Same on each one. So since I rely heavily on my stereo BT headset, today i’m going to run the RUU and bring it back to factory(hopefully), reroot in the kitchen, then flash 2.0b.
I’ll report back if this works.

So I did this on my Sprint Hero and it never went anywhere after the cache… part. The phone boots and I can get data, but my phone only shows E for data. What happen to the Ev? Where do I find the stock radio?

Not sure which rom you are on, but one of them has E without Ev. Basically it is just a display difference.

I’m curious if anyone else experienced the same. I live in a low coverage area out in the boonies, when I first flashed with the new baseband, speedtest came up a bit over 1mb (nice in an area where you can barely keep EV over 1x) but after a few hours I was back to my normal speed which is about half that if not less.
It dashed my hopes quite a bit…

I did the radio update and flashed to 2.0b2 yesterday, ported a number to my Sprint line today, but none of the “##” codes work… Master Lock, One time Lock, DATA, reset… none. Any Ideas?

How do you get the 2.41.05.xx one that’s in the picture you show on this page? That’s what my friend’s phone has and it’s consistently better than my 2.01.xx or 2.3x or 2.41′s that I’ve tried…
