Hey all. So as you may know, I have publicly spoken out against devs charging (aka requiring a donation) to gain access to downloads. I have graciously accepted donations from anyone willing, but I would never force anyone to pay. You may also know that I used to have an adsense account that Google canceled because too many people were clicking the links. I take that as a sign that people are willing to help support fresh rom/kitchen, even if they can’t afford to donate.   So with that, I have been looking at other ways for people to support my projects without necessarily having to pay, and I think I came up with one. However I wanted to get everyones input before I put it in to action.

I am a long time user of twitter on a personal level, but I don’t tweet about android stuff on there. Ever since I started this site I have debated on creating a twitter account. Up til now I had decided not to because I had too many other things to keep up with already however due to multiple requests I have decided to bite the bullet and go for it. I will not be using that account for support requests so you still need to bring your questions here, however I will update with smaller updates that aren’t blog-worthy.

HTC has finally released the source for our kernel! We still don’t know if this includes 100% of everything because they aren’t required to release closed source code. There is currently speculation that the power saving module they used is closed source which means the phone won’t sleep properly while the screen is off (that brings back bad memories).

I just wanted to post and say that I have successfully compiled it (thanks to toast for the pep talk ) and I am currently running a beta of fresh rom that is using the new kernel. While it is 100% stock and no changes have been made to it, this test will help show what we can do with it! Keep an eye out for exciting things.

This will be a joint collaboration with Flipz and myself to provide tools, themes, mods, etc. to your Sprint HTC Hero. Just wanted to let everyone know that I’m in the process of replacing all of my download links (currently all are bit.ly) with ones created using my site. I use a url shortener not because the url’s need to be shortened, but because it helps me track how many click throughs there are. Additionally sometimes I host a file on my site and sometimes I don’t, so it gives a common feel for all the links. Please report any issues you have with the new links once they start showing up.

As far as reporting issues goes… my site is running extremely slow right now. My host will be notified shortly.
