In an addition to the most popular post on my site Why You Shouldn’t Be Using a Task Killer with Android, I have decided to make this post which quite frankly, is a rant.

News: HTC Facebook not Syncing Contacts
I have been getting a lot of reports over the last week or so of people not being able to sync their contacts with HTC Facebook (Facebook for Sense). It happened shortly after I released a new rom for the Evo and Hero and I didn’t see others complaining about the issue so I assumed it was something related to what I did. As it turns out this is a widespread problem that has occurred after a Facebook API change, and HTC is working on it.

Download: Fresh Hero 2.3.3
Geek For Me is proud to release:
Fresh Hero 2.3.3 for your Sprint Hero
NOTE: Remember that Fresh Hero is considered a stable every day rom, and Fresh Toast is a dev rom that may have issues. Also (in case there is confusion) Fresh Hero is for the Hero and Fresh Evo for the Evo. But I think that’s self explanatory.
Also FYI the phone may freeze on very first boot at the lockscreen, or it may get to the lockscreen and then reboot one more time. This should only happen on the very first boot after flashing the rom (if it happens at all).

Geek For Me is proud to release:
Fresh Rom 2.1.2 by flipz
Reminder: Fresh Rom = stable, HTC-based rom. Fresh Toast = dev/experimental rom that includes overclocking and all the fun goodies that come with a custom kernel. They are 2 separate roms.

Update: Fresh Kitchen 1.0.5.4
05/15/10 @ 10:23am — Updated to v1.0.5.4
[bugfix] Fixed a bug in auto-rooter that was preventing RA from being installed properly.
Just run the kitchen and the auto-updater will download the fix.
NOTE: If you receive an error during the update that says something about not being able to convert DATE then you are using a non-standard date format on your computer. Set it back to the default of m/d/yyyy and it will update just fine. I’m working on a date parser that can accept others but this is the workaround for now.
