Note: You will not be able to use this fix and the weather animations. So if you want to use weather animations then don’t install this fix! See below for a screen shot of what your weather animations will look like afterwards. Also I just updated the patch so that it will automatically remove the weather animations for you. Note that because this patch changes OpenGL it can have other side effects just like it did with weather animations. So don’t be too surprised. Notably Gallery3d (if you use it) will slow way down.

A lot of you have noticed that live wallpapers haven’t worked exactly as you thought, or launcher2 was having some issues, and especially live wallpapers in Rosie (which was just patched to work last night) was having issues. We all mostly assumed that it was caused by the memory kill off (and it still can be in some cases!) however thanks to MagnusRagnarok, jcase, and zifnab, we now have a better fix.

It turns out that our OpenGL has some issues. This patch will give you the full open gl es to correct the issue. The LWP’s may be a little glitchy at times however this should resolve any issues.

I took their patch that they had and combined it in to one, as well as adding the required Rosie with espresso for getting live wallpapers to work in rosie on fresh rom. I also have the patch wipe your dalvik-cache since a number of these programs were already included in fresh rom so expect a long first boot!

I just created an “undo” patch for anyone that decides they don’t want this OpenGL fix for any reason: http://link.geekfor.me/openglundo — This undo will put weather animations back on and will revert OpenGL back to ours. It will still leave you with the LWP-abled Rosie though.

Geek For Me is proud to present… a sleepy time release…

Bug Fixes and Requests for Lock Screen Related Stuff

I’m going to try and lay this out in some sort of logical order but there’s going to be a lot on here so it’s going to look a little messy. But I’ll try! All of these fixes were done by me (flipz) so please give credit where credit is due. These are not bugs in Fresh Rom or feature requests that were necessary sent directly to me. These are bugs that affect all copies of the Sprint 2.1 based roms out right now. Thanks. PS- I was half asleep while typing all of this up and prepping the files, so please excuse any issues.

Bug:

Vanilla lock screen is all jumbled up. More information was already released here but I’ll be repeating most of it.

The vanilla lock screen source code in all of our 2.1 leaks from Sprint have suffered this. The information isn’t displayed properly on the page. Only time will tell if our final release will ship like that.

If you decide to use the vanilla lock screen then you will also need to use either the vanilla clock or a 3rd party application. This is because HTC’s world clock is integrated in to HTC’s lock screen, which you would have removed. For this reason I have ported the clock over to use with it. If you set an alarm in HTC’s world clock then it will go off in the morning but you won’t be able to stop it. Again… If you are using the vanilla lock screen then you must set your alarm in android’s clock application (or a 3rd party app) and not in HTC’s if you want to be able to turn it off in the morning.

I have made 3 different patch options. These have only been tested on Fresh 2.0d but should work perfectly fine on any rom based on Fresh 2.0d or DamageControl. All 3 are going to remove HTCLockScreen so make sure you aren’t applying this update.zip unless you want to use the vanilla lock screen. It does wipe your dalvik-cache so expect a long reboot (5+ minutes) after flashing it.

Just fix the lock screen: http://link.geekfor.me/vanillalock1

Fix the lock screen and install vanilla clock. You will end up with two “Clock” programs in your app drawer. You MUST set your alarm in vanilla android’s clock if you want to be able to turn it off in the morning. lol. : http://link.geekfor.me/vanillalock2 (you will have duplicate “Clock” entries in your app drawer. One for vanilla and one for HTC)

Fix the lock screen, install vanilla clock and uninstall world clock: http://link.geekfor.me/vanillalock3

Feature Request:

By default the “Menu” button will turn on and then unlock the phone. This is seen as a bug by many because it constantly causes the phone to unlock itself in your pocket.

While it isn’t a bug I was able to remove it from both the vanilla lock screen and HTC’s lock screen.

The first 3 downloads are the exact same 3 downloads right above this, however that one still has “Press menu to unlock” enabled and these ones have it disabled.

Just fix the vanilla lock screen and disable menu to unlock: http://link.geekfor.me/vanillalock4

Fix the vanilla lock screen, install the vanilla clock, and disable menu to unlock. You will end up with two “Clock” programs in your app drawer. You MUST set your alarm in vanilla android’s clock if you want to be able to turn it off in the morning. lol. : http://link.geekfor.me/vanillalock5 (you will have duplicate “Clock” entries in your app drawer. One for vanilla and one for HTC)

Fix the lock screen, install vanilla clock, uninstall HTC’s world clock, and disable menu to unlock: http://link.geekfor.me/vanillalock6

Disable menu to unlock on HTC’s Lock Screen: http://link.geekfor.me/htclocknmenu

Bug:

When using the Menu button to unlock the phone in Sense UI it pulls up the home screen menu after hitting menu the second time, when the expected result is for the phone to just be unlocked.

I fixed this on the Rosie.apk from Fresh Rom 2.0d so if you are using any other rom or theme then you may noticed changes in your rosie.

Make Rosie so that “press menu to unlock” doesn’t open the home screen menu after unlocking: http://link.geekfor.me/rosiemenu

Request:

Make the vanilla lock screen opaque so that you can’t see right through it.

So far we haven’t been successful in getting an actual wallpaper there, however I was able to modify the background color.

This is the only patch that requires that you already have the vanilla lock screen. Or you can download and flash vanilla at the same time as this. But this one will not install the vanilla lockscreen for you.

Add a black background to the vanilla lock screen: http://link.geekfor.me/blackvanilla

For anyone that likes Android 2.1′s vanilla lockscreen, you have no doubt been disappointed to see that every leak we have gotten from Sprint has had the lock screen broken. This first could be seen in Fresh 2.0 and is now seen in all current Sprint based 2.1 roms. There is no telling if this bug will exist in our final release, but it hasn’t been fixed yet so it’s looking like it will be. Well I took the time tonight to sit down and figure out the cause and I was able to resolve the issue. I was also informed that World Clock’s alarm clock doesn’t ever pop up if you are using the vanilla lock screen. Meaning if you set an alarm in world clock it will go off in the morning but it won’t pop up on your screen and you won’t be able to turn it off. This is because world clock is integrated in to HTC’s lock screen and it expects it to be there. To resolve that I have also ported over a copy of the vanilla clock. If you are using the vanilla lock screen then you must set your alarm in android’s clock application (or a 3rd party app) and not in HTC’s if you want to be able to turn it off in the morning.

Well I like to think that the little things that we try here in fresh rom are what make it unique. Sometimes those things don’t work… and it seems I’ve run in to a couple of those with fresh 1.0.

I added in a totally clear lock screen and put a transparent “lock” image over the screen. I put in all my release notes that I agree it was kind of ugly but it was a proof of concept. Well a lot of people can’t stand it. Ha.

I also put the freshhhhh boot up sound back in. Partially because I like it and it’s a bit of a trademark, and partially just because. But again… I know that it upsets people.

Thirdly, with the approval of tsowen I ported over one of his taskbars. This issue is about 50/50 right now on whether people like it or not. But in order to set the lock screen back I also had to kill most of the taskbar.

Applying this patch will do the following:

Remove the “lock” image from the lock screen and puts it back to the standard half-arc. It maintains the clear wallpaper though. You should now be able to apply whatever lock screen you like including evil or clear as a bell.

Remove the freshhh boot sound

Remove the taskbar

Right now I’m not providing a way to only do 1 and 3, or only do 3 or whatever. It’s all or nothing.

Ok…. fine! Ha.

DOWNLOAD: http://link.geekfor.me/defresh10 – This will remove all 3 items above
DOWNLOAD: http://link.geekfor.me/delock10 – This will only remove the full screen “lock” image but keeps everything else.

Apply as a normal update.zip.
