How to: Create your own update-script
This is not a step-by-step tutorial but is designed to help those who are making their own roms / themes / patches on how to make an update-script. This script is required for an “update.zip” style flash in Android so that it knows what it is actually supposed to do. The tutorial is really going to revolve around how to create a script for a theme only. An update-script for a full rom is much more involved.
Tip: How to (easily?) soft reset / reboot your CDMA Hero
So I’ve had my Hero for over a month now and up until now I was never able to find a way to soft reset the device without using an app that could only be used on rooted phones. While modifying the boot.img-kernel for Fresh 0.7 I stumbled across some code that revealed it actually is possible. The key combo is a little overboard for doing a soft reset, but it works!
You can reboot your phone by pressing: Talk + Menu + End. I found it easiest to do it by flipping the phone upside down and holding Talk + Menu with my right thumb and then pressing End with my left. The next time you need to reboot, give it a try!

I have modified his instructions slightly by changing it to fresh rom.
